Overview
The Master of Teaching Islamic Studies is a 120-credit, level 9 programme on the Maldives National Qualifications Framework (MNQF). Comprising nine modules, the programme spans one academic year with a total of 1200 learning hours, including 400 contact hours. The final two modules in Semester 2 are optional, allowing students to choose between completing either module nine or ten. Upon successful completion, graduates will be awarded a Master of Teaching Islamic Studies. Students opting to exit the programme after completing the first five modules will be awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching Islamic Studies.
We align this programme qualification’s to the level descriptors of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

- Advanced knowledge of Islamic teachings, pedagogy, and curriculum development to effectively teach Islamic Studies.
- Utilize critical thinking and reflective methodologies to enhance teaching strategies and student engagement in Islamic Studies.
- Design and deliver inclusive, culturally sensitive Islamic education programs that foster students' spiritual and intellectual growth.
Admission Requirements
General Entry
- A related Bachelor‟s Degree OR
- A related Graduate Diploma at Level 8
General Entry
- 25 years old, completion of a related Level 5 qualification, and 7 years of relevant experience (of which 3.5 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 5 qualification), and completion of a Pre-Master‟s Program. OR
- 25 years old, completion of a related Level 6 qualification, and 6 years of relevant experience (of which 3 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 6 qualification), and completion of a Pre-Master‟s Program
