Overview
The Master of Science in Islamic Judicial Practice (MSIJP) is designed for law graduates looking to deepen their understanding of Shariah law. This 120-credit program, lasts one academic year. It includes eight compulsory modules and a Dissertation, which carries 24 credits.
We align this programme qualification’s to the level descriptors of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).
Learning Outcomes
- Gain advanced knowledge of Shariah law, its sources, and methodologies, and apply these principles to contemporary legal challenges with ethical integrity.
- Conduct in-depth research and critical analysis of Islamic judicial practices, culminating in a scholarly dissertation that contributes to the field.

Admission Requirements
General Entry
- A related Bachelor‟s Degree OR
- A related Graduate Diploma at Level 8
General Entry
- 25 years old, completion of a related Level 5 qualification, and 7 years of relevant experience (of which 3.5 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 5 qualification), and completion of a Pre-Master‟s Program. OR
- 25 years old, completion of a related Level 6 qualification, and 6 years of relevant experience (of which 3 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 6 qualification), and completion of a Pre-Master‟s Program
