Overview
How to become a Special Education Teacher: Driven by human rights imperatives, national and international legislations, education places new demands on teachers and schools in Maldives. Teachers need to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to cater to the diverse learners. Therefore, to prepare teachers to address the needs of students with special education needs, the course addresses the values, skills and knowledge which facilitate Inclusive Education for ALL students
We align this programme qualification’s to the level descriptors of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).
Learning Outcomes
- Many of the Special Education graduates go on to employment as teachers in the public or private schools, some choose to follow other pathways. The Bachelor of Education-Special Education prepares for a range of professional roles related to supporting students with disabilities and their families within the broader community
Admission Requirements
General Entry
- Successful completion of Higher Secondary Education OR
- Attainment of a Level 4 qualification in a related field OR
- Attainment of a Level 4 Foundation Study Program approved for the specific Diploma program.
General Entry
- Completion of a Level 4 qualification (unrelated), and successful completion of a University Preparation Program OR
- 20 years old, completion of secondary school, 2 years of relevant work experience, and successful completion of a University Preparation Program
